What is a Veo Strip

Veo Started as an idea hatched on a long, sweaty climb up the Flume mountain trail near Lake Tahoe

Veo Strip is an ultralight adhesive strip that channels sweat away from your eyes. Veo Strips channel sweat, rather than absorbing it. They won’t get soggy and saturated and therefore have unlimited capacity.

The Science Behind Sweat: A Primer

  • Veo allows sweat to do its cooling job but prevents its drawbacks.
  • Sweat cools by evaporation from the skin’s surface, the forehead is the best skin on the body for this purpose.
  • Veo covers minimal skin, maximizing airflow and cooling at the forehead.
  • Cooler forehead means less sensation of fatigue.

How The Idea of Sweat-Diverted Strips Came About

Back to that sweaty climb near Lake Tahoe... With sweat and sunscreen running into his eyes our founder, Jim Shapiro, thought there had to be a solution.

After trying nearly everything under the sun: headbands, hats, and skull caps, Jim decided to see if he could come up with something that really worked. Relying on his experience and connections in the medical device space, he researched the physiologic element of the problem.

We know sweat serves an important function, so how can we preserve that function while eliminating the negative impact on vision? It rapidly became clear that current products not only failed to solve the problem, but they also created additional problems by trapping heat and creating an absorbent reservoir that ultimately saturates and drips.

A solution that would complement physiology, not fight it, was needed. The solution needed to leave skin uncovered and allow sweat to evaporate from its surface. All while preventing the remaining sweat from getting where you don’t want it, in the eyes. This led to the design of the Veo Sweat Diverting Strip.
