Fall's cooler weather is upon us but our athletes aren't slowing down yet. There is still lots of racing to be done. Our squad of cyclists and triathletes have been racing indoors and out this past week.
Jana Richtrova just competed in Kona, Hawaii at the Ironman World Championships. She placed 9th in the world for her age group and recorded the second fastest bike split on the 112-mile rolling and humid course with a 5:01:34. Jana didn't have the race she was ultimately hoping for, but has committed herself to tackling the challenge of getting back to Kona and performing to her full capabilities.
After a few days to reflect Jana wrote this, "The planning to get my name back on this wall has begun! I can’t stop thinking about last Saturday. That voice deep inside me that knows what I am capable of just won’t shut up and the 'I know what I can do' feeling is strong!"
Sam Brand was in China for the Tour of Taihu Lake. He spent some time off the front of the group representing Team Novo Nordisk, and racing to empower others affected by diabetes. Sam is now heading to Japan for the Japan Cup Cycle Road Race. Follow and support Sam and check out more photos from recent races on his Instagram account (@samuelnealbrand).
Tom Bohli was in Turkey for the Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey last week. He finished top 20 on stages 1 & 2 and placed 7th on stage 6 while there working for BMC Racing Team. The team had riders finish 10th, 11th, and 12th on the overall GC, with the squad taking the overall team classification win.
A few members of the Peet's Road Cycling team were in Southern California for the Masters Track Cycling World Championships. Kevin Metcalfe became the two-time World Scratch Champion and placed 3rd in Pursuit. Larry Nolan took Silver in Scratch and recorded a new World Record at the Individual Pursuit 60-64 age group.
